WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)

The wireless security protocol is defined in the IEEE 802.11 standard, designed to provide a level of security and privacy for wireless local area networks equivalent to that of wired local area networks. There are two levels of security: 40-bit and 128-bit encryption. The higher the bit number, the more secure the encryption.
