PC and Browsers

To use a webcam, a relatively new computer is required. It can be a PC running Windows or Linux operating systems or an Apple computer.

Since most modern computers come pre-installed with network support features and a browser when purchased, it's easy to activate the camera.

If a new computer is connected to a network camera with a built-in web server on the same network, the user only needs to spend 2 minutes assigning an IP address to the camera. By following the installation instructions in the user manual, the user can enter the IP address in the address bar of a browser (such as Internet Explorer) to start viewing the image.

Once the PC is connected to the camera, the network camera will display the start page. The start page will show the most recent captured image and provide links to modify the installation settings. If the link icon is clicked, the page will change, allowing adjustments to parameters such as image resolution, shutter speed, etc.

New network cameras come with a built-in installation wizard to make setup easier. By clicking on the application device installation wizard, the user will be asked about all options for that device, such as when images should be transmitted and the size settings of the images.

Once installation and setup are complete, users can still change settings using the browser. It is recommended to set up password protection for the Admin account.
